The Tree Swing Notes
So, looking at the scanned image of my sketch of "The Tree Swing" reminds how much I'd like a real scanner. It'll be quite some time before I get all those saved nickels and dimes to buy myself an awesome Epson Expression 10000XL- Graphic Arts Scanner
Santa, if you're reading this then please know I've been a super good girl this year. Like a saint.

deviantART Here I am!
I just officially joined deviantART yesterday. Although I've perused DA before, (well, for like 5 years, really) I didn't get the bright idea to put my art up on the DA website until recently. Duh! DA! What a great website. You can connect with other artists, promote your own artwork (for free, but there is an upgrade for membership for more perks), and find inspiration from some pretty amazing artists. Check it out!

Thank Goodness For Free Tutorials
I am so amazed with how organized and helpful Etsy is in helping me set up my shop and an online presence. I've just discovered how to promote myself on Facebook. Thanks to "Art by Susmitha" of Etsy, there is a handy tutorial on how to go about promoting your Etsy shop through Facebook.
The main idea here is to create your own Facebook Fan Page
The application that puts your Etsy shop on display in Facebook is called My Stuff by a company called Gigya. If you're interested in checking the tutorial out for yourself, please look here:

My First Original For Sale
I usually have a hard time letting go of my originals. I'm ready to take the plunge and put the Duck and Lollipops up for sale. I just know this little guy will go to a good home.
It's tiny (just 6x4), but I spent a good 5-6 hours on it hunched over my drafting table. I'm a sucker for detail and perfection. It's mostly watercolor, but I detailed it with color pencils and gouache.
You can find him here:

Sketches and Finished Pieces
I love the basics of just pencil on paper. Usually, I just use a #2B, on my Canson hardback sketchbook, and I can flesh out an entire drawing that way. It's interesting to see how the character of the drawing changes once I begin painting it. Sometimes I like the outcome of the painting in which it looks different from the original sketch.
On the finished frog piece I kind of missed the warty-ness of the original sketch, but all in all I liked how the personality of our little frog here turned out.

New Facebook page
I'm learning as I go, and that can actually be fun at times. Well, it can also be a headache too, but whatever, I'm making progress. I just created a Facebook page today. You can find it here at this link (only if you already have a Facebook account): http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001764184565
You can also click on the Facebook photo badge at the bottom of my blog here. I just learned how to use that nifty little widget today. I consider this a small triumph, and I'm mighty proud of that!
